Position: WELDER ASSISTANT

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist welders in setting up welding equipment, tools, and materials according to project requirements. 

  • Prepare metal surfaces for welding by cleaning, grinding, and removing rust, paint, or other contaminants. 

  • Position and secure work pieces, components, or structures in place using clamps, jigs, or fixtures. 

  • Handle and transport welding materials, components, and equipment safely and efficiently. 

  • Perform minor welding tasks under the supervision of experienced welders, such as tack welding or spot welding. 

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the welding area, including cleaning work surfaces, equipment, and tools. 

  • Follow safety protocols and regulations at all times to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace. 

  • Assist welders in conducting visual inspections of welded joints to ensure they meet quality standards. 

  • Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to optimize workflow and meet project deadlines. 

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in welding or a related field is preferred but not required. 

  • Basic knowledge of welding processes and techniques, including shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) and gas metal arc welding (GMAW). 

  • Familiarity with welding equipment, tools, and materials commonly used in metal fabrication. 

  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labor in a welding environment. 

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to following instructions accurately.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
