Key Responsibilities
Assist welders in setting up welding equipment, tools, and materials according to project requirements.
Prepare metal surfaces for welding by cleaning, grinding, and removing rust, paint, or other contaminants.
Position and secure work pieces, components, or structures in place using clamps, jigs, or fixtures.
Handle and transport welding materials, components, and equipment safely and efficiently.
Perform minor welding tasks under the supervision of experienced welders, such as tack welding or spot welding.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the welding area, including cleaning work surfaces, equipment, and tools.
Follow safety protocols and regulations at all times to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace.
Assist welders in conducting visual inspections of welded joints to ensure they meet quality standards.
Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to optimize workflow and meet project deadlines.
Qualifications
Previous experience in welding or a related field is preferred but not required.
Basic knowledge of welding processes and techniques, including shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) and gas metal arc welding (GMAW).
Familiarity with welding equipment, tools, and materials commonly used in metal fabrication.
Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labor in a welding environment.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to following instructions accurately.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
